A bungling bank robber was left red-faced when bank customers over-powered him in the Matola area of Elche last Friday lunchtime. The 63 year old man waited patiently for the local Sabadell Bank branch to open and went in with a cunning disguise of a false nose and beard, as well as wearing a hat, in addition to waving around a gun with no bullets in it. Customers and bank staff snatched his empty weapon and threw him to the floor after he demanded money from the cashier. The police then arrived to cart him away ahead of a court appearance, with even their pixilated faces suggesting that the whole incident raised a smile. The man is said to have a criminal record, and was refused bail when he appeared before the judge.
