29 people, including four Britons, have been arrested as the National Police smashed a major drugs gang that operated in Alicante Province and the Murcia region. 13 house searches were made over a period of months with the last series of arrests being made in Los Alcazares, Abanilla, Yecla, and Sangonera la Verde, with 15 Spaniards as well as an Irish national being collared. The operation started back in October last year, with arrests being made in Benidorm, Elche, Los Alcazares, and Pilar de la Horadada, with the operation uncovering a major marijuana plantation in the basement of a furniture store in Novelda in June.
