A crocodile hailing from the River Nile was one of a whole haul of illegally kept animals that was seized by the Guardia Civil from the homes of five people in León province last week, with all of the “owners” being charged with illegal possession. The fully-grown crocodile, which had been taken from the Nile in Egypt when it was very young, was actually being kept as a pet by a man in Val de San Lorenzo. 118 rare birds were also seized by the Guardia’s wildlife branch, Seprona, from four addresses in Camponaraya, with 80 linnets and 38 goldfinches being kept illegally.
