The San Miguel Archangel Neighbourhood Association has attacked the local council for trebling the amount of money it owes.

Association spokesman Manuel Gómez criticised the increased debt of the San Miguel de Salinas council under mayor Angel Sáez which has gone up from nearly 600 thousand euros in 2011, to almost 1.8 million euro last year.

Gomez added that the big concern was that little of the debt hike could be accounted for by upping the help given to the poor and needy of the local community during the recession.
