Temperatures in the Valencia Region were almost seeing the mercury crash out of thermometers last Tuesday, with Xàtiva logging a figure of just short of 46 degrees Celsius in the shade! Further south, Orihuela City hit a year high of just over 42 degrees, whilst Rojales and Torrevieja were over 39 degrees.

Murcia City hit over 43 degrees, but the coastal areas of the Mar Menor were at a much more pleasant value of around 36 degrees. Met office spokesmen say the heatwave will definitely continue until at least this Sunday (July 12th) but it could go on for longer, with some experts sticking out their necks by saying it could continue for most of July!
