The schooner, Pascual Flores, is back in Torrevieja, after some buoyancy repairs done to her in the southern port of Algeciras, but there’s still a big question mark over the vessel which is regarded as a beacon for the history of local ship building.

The ship is in a far worse condition than was first thought, despite some six million of euros of municipality money being spent on repairing the replica which does contain some parts of the original structure.

The situation is so precarious that the crew have to stop once an hour to spend 20 minutes pumping out the sea water, with the vessel also suffering from oil leaks and general structural deficiencies.
