Based on increased airport numbers at Alicante-Elche, there was little surprise that tourist visitors to the Costa Blanca and the Valencia region are continuing to rise this year. The first five months of 2015 saw just over two million visitors coming to the Valencia region, an increase of 2.7 percent on the same period last year.  The figures for the Murcia region were even more impressive, with a five month rise of 6.7 percent on 2014, with a record high of 284 thousand foreign visitors, whilst May on its own showed an upsurge of 8.6 per cent over the same month last year.

Nationally, the numbers come to over 22 million visitors, just over 5 percent more on 2014’s returns, which themselves showed a significant improvement on 2013. UK visitors accounted for 22 percent of the total for the first five months of 2015, followed by France at 16.4 percent, and Germany at 16.1.
