Two Guardia Civil officers were left kicking their heels last week when their car broke down on the AP7 between Torrevieja and Crevillente, and then to make matters worse, the vehicle that came to pick them up also ended up suffering mechanical problems.

The Guardia’s union, the ANC, has slammed the state of the fleet in Alicante Province, which in last week’s incident meant that the officers were left standing waiting to be picked up on the hard shoulder, with materials like rifles lying on the ground.

A few weeks ago, a Guardia car in Pilar de la Horadada had to be fumigated after being full of midges, something the ANC union said was not a unique case in the region.
