A baby born three months prematurely during his parents’ holiday to Benidorm is experiencing Britiish life for the first time, having been flown by private jet last week. Karla Hornby was relaxing by the pool with her partner Jordan Jackson when her waters suddenly broke and she was rushed into hospital for an emergency caesarean section.

The 29-year-old feared she would die in the procedure as her son Freddie was delivered 12 weeks early, weighing just 2lbs. The parents faced a nervous wait to see if their son would have complications and concerned doctors told the family they would have to stay in Spain for at least three months while Freddie built up his strength.

But the youngster surpassed all expectations and medics gave him the green light to travel home ahead of schedule. Now the family has finally arrived home to Bolton, flying back in a private plane with a special incubator – covered by their insurance. Freddie, who now weighs more than 4lbs, will continue to recover in the Royal Bolton Hospital where he is receiving assisted feeds.
