The Vega Baja region’s signature vegetable, the artichoke, has seen big financial returns for local growers according to recently released figures.


Over 23 thousand tons were grown in the area during the season, with prices up by a third, as two thirds of the product is supplied to vegetable canners, and the rest sold by market traders.
