Santa Pola council workers have been closing off ad-hoc routes leading to unauthorised parking areas in the Cala dels Gossets and Cala de la Emrita areas, as well other parts of the coastal area.

With official parking areas being expanded, the council has taken action to stop access to cars, which has caused damage to plants and vegetation, which they are planning to replace.

The authority, which says that there are around 25 illegal access points for parking that they are getting rid of, have added that more speed bumps and pedestrian crossings will also be introduced on the roads that get busy during holiday seasons.
