Algorfa is to get a sports hall built at the municipal sports ground (site pictured with Algorfa mayor, Manuel Ros), after the local council went back to Alicante Provincial Council to get funding for the project, after being told initially there was no money available.

The building will cost 700 thousand euros, with the regional body subsidising 85 percent of the work, with the rest of the financing coming from Algorfa council.

The PSOE-run authority was snubbed at first with their request for funding and suggested that there was bias in favour of the Partido Popular by the Provincial Council, as they approved a  grant for a similar project to the PP-run council in Busot.

Algorfa mayor, Manuel Ros, said that the sports hall had been promised in his party’s manifesto in the 2015 local elections and it would allow everybody of all ages to take part in sport in the same kind of facilities that were available in other municpalities across Alicante Province.
