Five boys and a girl who stole from parked cars in Almoradi, have been arrested by the Guardia Civil.
The children aged between 12 and 17 years were given the nickname of “The Bicycle Gang”, as one of them used a bike as a pivotal part of their illegal activities.
The Guardia said that they would stroll almost innocently though Almoradi to identify any cars that they could steal from.
A targeted car would then have a window broken by the handlebar of the bicycle, and then any objects that were out in the open were taken.
On one occasion they were surprised by a passer-by, who was threatened with being killed, after he told them off for what they were doing.
The youngsters face 23 charges of breaking into and stealing from vehicles, as well as the crime of belonging to a criminal organisation.
One of the gang members has been remanded into the custody of a juvenile centre.
