Alicante-Elche airport has welcomed its 13th million passenger for 2017, as it has smashed last year’s record of 12.3 million travelers, with most of December remaining.

Sergio Óvide was flying in on a Vueling service from Barcelona on Tuesday for a business meeting in Alicante, and was welcomed by Vueling and airport officials on what was his second-ever flight to Alicante-Elche.

Sergio was given a commemorative plaque, a bouquet of flowers, a pass for the airport VIP lounge, and a couple of Vueling flight tickets.

Airport operator AENA says that they expect to welcome half a million passengers this month to the facility, meaning that Alicante-Elche airport would have attracted a total of a million extra travelers in a year.
