A Santa Pola woman, who fired a rifle at people walking past her apartment, has been arrested by the Guardia Civil, after a 14-year-old boy needed a pellet removed from his head at Elche General Hospital.
The 35-year-old apartment resident, who has an extensive criminal record, decided to start taking pot shots at several pedestrians from the balcony of her flat.
A 43-year-old neighbour told the Guardia that she was taking an early evening walk, and heard a small bang which she thought was a firecracker, and eventually she felt a sharp pain in her right toe, which had been hit by a pellet.
The father of the teenager, who was walking alongside him at the time he was shot, told authorities that he noticed a woman leaning over a balcony, and when the Guardia raided the address, they discovered a rifle underneath a table, alongside the identical type of pellets that had hit the people outside.
The pellet-firer has been charged with the crime of causing serious injury, but no information about her motivation to take aim from her balcony has been disclosed.
