A well-known San Javier landmark, El Maestre, dating from the late 19th century, is to have restoration work done on its internal and external walls.

The Murcia government is funding the 80,000-euro project, which will start next year, and will also include the addition of some traditional windmill blades onto the structure located on the Alto del Villar.

El Maestre was used by farmers for water extraction.
