Alicante-Elche airport continues to be on course to easily smash the 13 million passenger figure by the end of the year, with one point three million visitors using the facility in October, a rise of over four percent on the same month last year.
Over 532 thousand passengers came from the United Kingdom, with Germany being the next largest foreign visitor group at over 90 thousand, closely followed by Holland.
The accumulated figure so far over the first ten months of 2017 shows 12.2 million passengers at Alicante-Elche, a rise of just under 12 percent on the returns for 2016, with the airport guaranteed to achieve another passenger annual record come the end of next month.
On a more modest level, but still in an upward direction, San Javier airport has welcomed a total of one point one million passengers so far this year, an increase of nearly nine percent on the same period last year, helped by an increased schedule of flights, with more being maintained during the current winter season.
October’s figures came in at just under 124 thousand, a yearly rise of over six percent, which means that with two months remaining, the 2016 passenger figure for San Javier has already been beaten, with around 90 percent of users coming from the UK and Ireland.
