A Torrevieja drug dealer has been ordered to pay compensation to a vet, after several dogs ate cannabis that he had thrown out of his building, ahead of the Guardia Civil arriving to intervene in an assault case.
An Elche court heard the Guardia officers went to stop a brawl in a house in February 2016, where the man had threatened a woman with knife as he demanded payment. The man peddled drugs from the address, and when the Guardia arrived, he tied to flee via the roof, and threw out a bag with 80 grams of cannabis resin in it.
The bag landed on the patio, and several dogs that were there went at the bag, and were poisoned. A vet treated them, and the man was ordered to pay 141 euro for the medication, as well as shelling out 190 euro to the woman who he assaulted.
Though he got a suspended prison sentence, his biggest fine amounting to five and a half thousand euro for a crime against public health, as the Guardia discovered a variety of drugs in his home, which just happened to have a market value of five and a half thousand euro.
