Over 200 people gathered in San Fulgencio’s Plaza de la Constitución on Sunday for the annual bilingual Service of Remembrance.

The event was organised by the Gran Alacant and La Marina branch of the Royal British Legion, San Fulgencio council, and the Parochial Church.

The Catholic parish priest Father Ramón Belda Diez, and the Anglican priest Father Richard A. Seabrooke, assisted by lay reader Peter Smith, led the prayers and commemoration in the square outside the church.

Among the wreathes laid was one on behalf of the Spanish community by local councillor Maria Angeles, whilst Hugo Griffin from the British Consulate in Alicante laid a wreath on behalf of the British residents.

The Last Post and Reveille were played by former Royal Marines bandsman John Atkins.
