A 93-year-old British driver got herself into a parking pickle on a Torrevieja street on Monday morning, after she ended up putting her car into the front of a house (picture from the Informacion newspaper).
The woman was trying to park up on Calle Vicente Blasco Ibánez, close to the intersection with Rambla Juan Mateo, shortly before 11.00 am when she hit a snag.
According to the Informacion newspaper, she encountered problems in parking between two cars, and hit them both. According to eyewitnesses, she lost control of her vehicle and ended up on the pavement on the opposite side of the steeet, before rolling into the residence and blocking the front door.
The manouevre saw her car take down a number of iron bollards to prevent vehicles getting onto the pavement, which fortunately had no pedestrians on it at the time.
The right front tyre was taken out in the incident, but fortunately the driver only suffered a few minor scratches and a blow to the head, and did not need any medical help.
Torrevieja’s local police confirmed that all of her driving documentation was in order.
