Public Works minister  Inigo de la Serna, has publicly announced “a major package” of road improvements in Spain, which includes the drafting of a project to upgrade the N-332 to a dual carriageway in Torrevieja.

Though the minister wrote to Torrevieja council with the news last month, it was his first public pronouncement in a statement made in the Madrid parliament, with Torrevieja national deputy, Joaquin Albaladejo (pictured) saying that it was a symbolic moment and that it was “very good news for Alicante Province in general and especially for Torrevieja and Orihuela Costa”.

The Partido Popular deputy fired a political broadside at the PSOE-led Valencian government and the Torrevieja council coalition over “two wasted years” as they “played politics”, and praised the Partido Popular government and Prime Minister Mariano Rajoy for moving the project forward.

The PP deputy also described the Torrevieja council and current mayor José Manuel Dolón as both being the “worst ever” in the municipality’s history.
