The owner of two of the three beach bars closed by Torrevieja council in the summer for operating without a license has launched an appeal against the ruling.

The shutting down of the popular bars in the Cala Piteras area of Punta Prima came after a search of council files revealed that no municipal licenses had been applied for, with the premises being open since 2009.

It was previously reported that  besides Torrevieja council, neither  the Valencian Government or the Coastal authority had given any permission for the bars to be built on what is classified as non-building land.
