A man who tried to rob a Torrevieja bank and escape with six thousand euro was arrested by local police officers on Monday morning.

The robber struck shortly before 9.00 am at the La Caixa branch on Avenida de Gregorio Marañón and used a fake gun to force the manager to hand over the money.

The 44-year-old man, who has a history of previous robberies and had only just been released from prison, was caught in the act by the police, who responded quickly when an alarm was sounded.

He was handed over to the Guardia Civil ahead of an appearance in front of a Torrevieja.
