A 28-year-old Lithuanian man was stabbed and beaten to death at his Alicante area home yesterday morning, with another Lithuanian national detained in connection with the incident.

The Guardia Civil are also looking for another man who fled the scene at a Playa de Muchavista apartment in El Campello, after the assault which took place at around 11.10 am.

The Guardia discovered a significant amount of money and cannabis at the third floor flat, after being alerted by neighbours who spotted two men covered in blood jumping from the terrace of the property.

The body of the man was found in the kitchen with multiple stab injuries, along with suffering blows to his head. One of the alleged assailants, aged 30, injured his leg in trying to flee, was arrested by the Guardia.

He told the officers that he had been sleeping in the apartment and was awoken by robbers who killed his compatriot.
