San Pedro del Pinatar’s eight beaches saw over three thousand cases where the beach rescue service helped out people over the summer season, which ended on September 30th.

This would range from helping elderly and infirm people onto the beach or to toilet faciltiies; dealing with insect bites, allergies, and sunburn; through to saving the life of five people in drowning incidents, though one person did die over the summer period.

Nearly 50 percent of calls for assistance involved people aged over 60 and younger children, whilst Villananitos beach accounted for almost a third of the logged incidents.
