A 14-month-old British baby was revived by Guardia Civil officers and paramedics after falling into his family’s swimming pool at their Northern Costa Blanca villa.

The incident happened in Javea on Monday morning on an urbanisation close to Arenal beach, with the youngster taken to hospital in Valencia City, which has a specialist paediatric unit.

His initial condition was described as critical, with reports suggesting that the child may have fallen into the pool after a security alert device failed to work.
