San Pedro del Pinatar’s regional park is to see a big rise in its area from 856 hectares to nearly 1,200 hectares, according to the Murcia government’s environment ministry.

The announcement was spurred on the environmental group ANSE that claimed the government was actually looking to reduce the size of the protected area that is home to a variety of birdlife.
