The Valencian regional government has been ordered to cough up over nine milion euro for a road expansion that never happened.

The ruling has come from the Valencia High Court over a proposed 400-million-euro upgrade of the CV-95 between Orihuela City and the Los Balcones area of Torrevieja that was scrapped in 2012.

Contractors won a tender to convert the CV-95 into a dual-carriageway, and having lost money on the project, took the Valencian government to court in a long-running legal battle.
