An infamous serial burglar, who previously operated in the Murcia region amongst other parts of the country, was found shot dead on a Madrid street in mysterious circumstances at the weekend.

Francisco Javier Martín Sáez, 36 – better known as ‘Niño Sáez’ – has committed over 22 offences and is famous for ‘dropping in’ through windows and skylights.

He crawled around several streets after being shot before collapsing in a cardiac arrest. Police and paramedics attempted to revive him at around 11.30 am on Sunday, but he passed away.

He had sustained three bullet wounds, one in the neck and two in the left side of his chest. The burglar had a long history of breaking into safe deposit boxes in homes and business premises, and stealing luxury cars, but he was normally released on bail after being arrested.
