A car driven by a drunk 28-year-old woman rammed into a group of triathlon cyclists on the Northern Costa Blanca, killing two of them, with three of them taken to hospital in a serious condition.
The incident happened today (Sunday) at around 8.30 am on the N-332 between Oliva and Denia, as the cyclists from the Club Atlètic Llebeig de Xàbia were mowed down. The driver tested positive for being over the limit with alcohol and drugs present in her blood.
The Guardia Civil from Gandia arrested the woman on a variety of charges including that of reckless homicide. One of those who died was the son of the ex-mayor of Xàbia.
