Torrevieja at last got their first points of the season on Wednesday night, with the return of on-loan Pastor making a difference. Speeding down the right wing he looked up and delivered a sweet cross which Hugo accepted gratefully, nodding home to put Torry one up just before the half hour mark. It was only Torry’s fifth goal of the campaign.

Buñol gathered themselves and hit back through Corell five minutes later to level the tie, then after five further minutes, rattled another home to take a 2-1 lead at the interval. Less than 10 minutes into the second-half, injury-prone Martin was replaced by teenager Booker, and then Vicente made way for Matheus as Torry chased the game. It looked a forlorn case with time running out when Torry were awarded a penalty on 88 minutes. Captain Lewis Allen took responsibility and hammered it home to make it 2-2.

Deep into injury time Damian Aguero scored his first Torry goal to seal the win and lift his team off the bottom of the table. This was a vital first success for Torry, who must now follow it up with a first home win this Sunday at the Nelson Mandela stadium against the new bottom side, Muro, kicking off at 6.00 pm.
