GIRONA 3  ELCHE 1

An injury time goal from Guillermo added some kind of modicum of respectability to the final score for Elche in a match which was largely dominated by Girona. Borja put the home side ahead in the 21st minute, and it was the ex-Elche striker Cristian Herrera that was posing all kinds of problems for his former team. He was involved in setting up the second goal for Portu in the 39th minute, and then Girona were happy to soak up any pressure from a more positive Elche in the second half.

The Catalans sealed up the points from Longo in the 74th minute, before the Ilicitanos got their late consolation. With a win and a defeat under their Segunda division belt, Elche are back at home tomorrow night(Saturday) when they entertain Tenerife with an 8.00 pm kick-off time at the Manuel Martínez Valero stadium.
