The San Javier Squalos women’s rugby team were crowned Murcia Federation league champions at Lorca last Saturday when they beat the Murcia University team, CUDER, 15-10 in the last of the end of season play-off matches. It wa sa great achievement for the Squalos, as CUDER had beaten them in their two regular league encounters this season, to finish top of the table, ahead of the play-off’s.  It has been a major season of progress for the Squalos especially as they’ve had to bring in many new and inexperienced players into their squad, with their efforts richly rewarded in the final and vital encounter.

In the cadetes league, the local encounter between ITV Orihuela Vega Baja(pictured) and the Torrevieja Tigers saw Orihuela come up with of their best performances of the season as they beat the Tigers, 22-10, who stay third in the division. The top of the table encounter saw leaders Lorca travel away to squeeze out  second-placed Murcia, 19-17.
