CD MONTESINOS 0 CD DOLORES 1
League leaders Dolores produced a workman-like yet professional performance to come away with all three points from Montesinos, and showed why they are firm favourites to win the division, and return to the First Regional division.
Monte actually played one of their better matches in this campaign, matching their opponents for most of the contest and creating enough chances to even win it. But the lack of firepower from the home side was once more evident this season as chance after chance went begging, none more so than a first time effort from M & A in the second half after some excellent work from Macan down the right side. The first half had ended all square and it was left to the Monte fans in the 271 crowd to rue missed chances. Carlos was especially useful down the Monte right hand side and he continually probed and beat his defender to get in a steady supply of crosses which were dealt with comfortably by a well organised Dolores defence.
The only goal came in the 73rd minute as a left-wing cross was met with a powerful header on the edge of the six yard box from Choto, and it gave Lopez in goal absolutely no chance. It was frustrating for Monte and once again exposed the fact that they desperately need a good goalscorer as their without an effective front man, all their efforts come to nothing, with the Dolores game being a fine illustration of the point. This result leaves Dolores at the top of the division with 39 points from 15 matches played whilst CD Montesinos are in seventh position with 24 points and, even at this stage of the season, looking as if a promotion play-off place is out of their reach.
The supporters Man of the Match award was given to Club captain Fernando and presented to him by David Winder from the golf arm of the supporters club, Torregolf.eu. Monte are away tomorrow (Saturday) to CD Murada with a 4.15pm kick-off.
