A last minute equaliser deprived Elche of a victory at Valladolid last Saturday, but at least the Ilicitanos are now five games unbeaten and looking a tight unit.

The wet conditions at the José Zorrilla stadium were hardly helpful for producing good football. Sergio León produced a long range shot in the first chance for the visitors, but then Valladolid came into the game more and produced the better chances, with keeper Javi Jiménez producing a good save from Rodri, and the well-run Elche defence being kept busy for the rest of the first half.

There was greater intensity from Elche in the second period, as both sides tried to play positively, and in the 69th minute, the Ilicitanos took the lead as Sergio León set up Alvaro to score. The home side then laid siege on the Elche goal with once again Javi Jiménez proving to be an immovable force until a Rodri header in the dying seconds of the match levelled up matters.

Elche entertain one of the Segunda division front-runners Alcorcon tomorrow afternoon with a 5.00pm kick-off.
