The new season brought instant success for the Club Natacion Torrevieja swimmers in their first races of the new campaign. Piroska Rideg, Zoe Connolly, Yuriy Lymar, Paul Matthews and Vicki Connolly swam against 200 other swimmers across a distance of sixteen-hundred metres around the Port of Cartagena in the 24th “Trofeo Carthagineses y Romanos” event. Zoë came in first for the Torrevieja team being placed 11th in her age category (13 –14yrs) followed, three and a half minutes later, by mum Vicki. In the Masters II category (42-52 yrs), Vicki took first place with a time 25mins 26 secs. Both Piroska (15-16yrs), Yuriy 19 – 24yrs) and Paul (Masters III – 54yrs and above) all finished the competition placed sixth in their respective age categories. Meanwhile, Masters competitor Rafael Bordes Alonso won four medals at the Panteresports 2015 event in Barcelona. Rafael took a gold, silver and two bronze medals in his 50m breaststroke; 50m and 100m backstroke; and the 400m freestyle events.
