Out with the old and in with the new was the message from the spring fashion shows in Paris, Milan and London this year and now is a great time to pick up a bargain or two as we´re about to head straight into sales season in Spain.

Boots and bags of every variety were key to the trends for the summer, with minimalist designs and startling prints, with shapes and colours to meet every taste.

Simone Rocha who offered up a slick, bubblegum pink brogue, and Phoebe Philo successfully updated the bucket bag for Celine.

Then we got more adventurous in footwear with Riccardo Tisci‘s over-the-knee bondage boots for Givenchy and Rick Owens with his futuristic, monster mouth platforms.

Talking of boots, remember back in 2013 when superstarlet Rihanna was seen in rather stunning Tom Ford Knee-High Boots? Okay, maybe not for everyday wear, but they have got to be a timeless classic, right?

As we sprinkle on a bit of campness to get you twinkling along with your accessories, how about the stunning Dolce & Gabbana‘s Barbie box purse, although probably not good if you´re shopping for toys, or Moschino‘s rather odd / funky looking boombox handbag.

Maybe they are out of the price range of most of us with more sense than cash, at least they lay the foundation for us to hit the shops running to look chic on the beach this summer, and on the subject of the beach and summer, our pick of the best beach bags has to be Wightsails Sailcloth Beach Handbag, a snip at just 40 quid, made from recycled sail cloth, giving us a genuine nautical feel to our beach trip.

Finally, for those who would rather spend money on things other than bags, most major supermarkets sell a decent sized shopping bag for about 50 cents, perfect for just about any use, except maybe the catwalk.
